Business Description: Renee’s Way Inc. provides educational services regarding literacy, social emotional learning, cultural diversity instruction and leadership training. Dr. Nay’s Professional Development Workshops are theoretically designed so that participants experience a self-discovery learning process grounded in research-based literacy principles. Based upon the interactive nature of the workshops, sessions ensure that all participants have an optimally meaningful experience. Each session is conducted with intense instructional focus and active engagement. According to institutional needs, individualized programs and packages are designed and priced upon request.
Available services are two-pronged, designed for educators and 5th -12th grade students.
• At the student level, interactive workshops and motivational speaking performances are available for schools and youth organizations. As a seasoned educator, Dr. Nay believes that it is essential to empower children at a young age. She published children’s literature, Sistah Girl: Step into Your Greatness (Amazon Best-Seller), and Yo Bro: Strive Toward Excellence to fill the void of quality diverse literature in today’s classrooms. Poem titles like, Sistah Hair, Flavors of People, and Black Lives Matter are meaningful topics to adolescents, especially of color populations. The books were written to help guide young adults through adolescence toward excellence by identifying their aspirations, teaching them their responsibilities as role models, and showing them how they can make a difference in the world as agents of change, while reinforcing social emotional learning and literacy skills. Workshop topics include cultural acceptance, bullying, youth activism, and self-esteem. Sessions are hands-on with the use of manipulatives like beach balls and bingo cards to keep the students cognitively engaged and motivated and accommodate learning styles and special needs. Handouts and/or published books are available for purchase.
• Professional development, concerning pedagogical and feminine leadership training opportunities, are offered to teachers and school support staff. Critical conversation, bias evaluation, and culturally relevant teaching are some of the available topics of study. Workshop titles include “Get Set, Ready: Reflect, Rethink, Respond…. Go!” and “Enriching Conversations with Our Rich Stories.” Dr. Nay’s book publication, “Embrace Your Power: A Sistah-to-Sistah Conversation” serves as an instructional tool that affords her readers an opportunity to self-reflect and self-empower as teachers and leaders through her poetic craft.
The founder and president of Renee’s Way Inc., Dr. Renee White aka Dr. Nay, is a former NYC DOE classroom teacher and reading specialist. She is permanently certified as a N-6 teacher, Reading Specialist, and School District Administrator. Currently, as a 25+ year college professor of teacher education, Dr. White publishes motivational poetry and instructional materials that promote acceptance, and youth and women empowerment.
