Business Description: Mechanismic Inc. is an MBE NY-based corporation, which designs, develops, and manufactures a scalable, authentic, and affordable STEM Robotics Education and Play product called SnappyXO Design (https://www.snappyxo.com) for K-12 schools, post-secondary institutions, students, makers and hobbyists, and for industrial prototyping. We also sell to informal STEM learning centers, such as museums, libraries, after-school STEM programs and camps, hackathons, and robotics competitions.
SnappyXO is not just a robot kit. It is a complete ecosystem of patented hardware, design apps, and curriculum, which brings together mechanical design, practical electronics, and computer science in a Project- and Problem-based setting.
We are the exclusive supplier of this innovative and cutting-edge product, which finally bridges the gap between competition-based robotics and programming oriented products and provides NGSS aligned curriculum to helps schools provide critical engineering design skills and knowledge to its students while developing an interest in STEM careers.
This unified and holistic product teaches students engineering design, practical electronics, and computational thinking under one umbrella and brings a new approach to STEM and robotics education, wherein students engage in the entire design innovation cycle from conceptualization to programmable robots.
SnappyXO Design features:
MotionGen Pro (http://www.motiongen.io): This is the world’s first AI-driven mechanism synthesis software that helps users design and simulate mechanisms and enables them to become the innovators and inventors. Backed by many years of academic research in the Mechanisms and Robotics area and covered extensively in peer-reviewed research publications, this software also allows students to design and 3D print or laser-cut their own robot parts.
SnappyXO Build (http://www.snappyxo.io): SnappyXO Builder app offers a new and innovative approach to building robots. Its user-friendly interface and extensive range of parts and components make it easy for anyone to create their dream robotic creations. By virtually assembling designs before building them physically, students can experiment with different configurations and refine their ideas to create truly unique and functional robots. The app also includes activity cards that offer various levels and challenges to guide students through the design process and promote hands-on learning.
SnappyXO Hardware: This is a minimalistic library of intuitive and planar hardware components, such as flexible connectors, rigid joints, and mounts for off-the-shelf electronics such as motors, batteries, sensors and open-source microcontrollers like Arduino. The hardware is designed to be simple enough for elementary students and yet sufficiently capable for college students to design even the most complex robotic systems. The hardware also includes an extensive set of mechatronics components for rapid prototyping of robots and machines.
SnappyXO PBL Curriculum: This is a grade- and age-appropriate, project- and problem-based, standards-aligned curriculum for three grade bands, viz. elementary, middle, and high-school and college students.
SnappyXO Design was originally invented at State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook in the Computer-Aided Design and Innovation Lab to provide a design-driven robotics education to students and received funding from the National Science Foundation and many NY-state organizations.
